Do you know that noncommunicable diseases are on an ascending slope?
Did you know that:
- Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are medical conditions that are not infectious or transmissible between individuals and often result from a combination of genetic, behavioral, and environmental factors.
- According to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), NCDs account for 71% of global deaths (WHO, 2020).
- The main contributors to this are conditions like coronary artery disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes mellitus (WHO, 2020).
- What’s interesting is that many risk factors associated with NCDs are within our control and can be modified. For example, in developed countries like the United States, it has been found that 50% of premature deaths are caused by lifestyle-related risk factors such as smoking, poor nutrition, and lack of exercise. This highlights the importance of addressing these modifiable factors to reduce the burden of noncommunicable diseases (PRB, 2023).

Take action today to prioritize your health by making small but impactful changes to your lifestyle, such as quitting smoking, adopting a balanced diet, and incorporating regular physical activity into your routine, as these choices can significantly reduce your risk of noncommunicable diseases and promote a longer, healthier life.
